Here’s an aha moment of my career:
“Your advice saved the hospital for $250,000,” said the materials manager I had a casual discussion with around cost saving in a specific area.
At that time, I worked for a large medical manufacturer, where I was involved with physicians within the surgical environment, having them utilize our equipment.
By observing and having discussions with administrators, materials managers, and people in purchasing, I got exposed to healthcare’s finance and operational side.
I started understanding how hospitals function, and my love for this space grew.
That led me to launch VIE Healthcare Consulting in 1999.
We provide hospitals with the insights and the resources to help them increase margins through proven financial strategies.
When I hear them say things like we made their cost reduction opportunities bigger and helped them succeed, I get the same thrill I felt on having that conversation with the materials manager years ago.
